Guide to a successful application

Would you like to apply to our university of applied sciences? It’s easy. All the information you need for a successful application is provided here.

You will learn how the application process works, which documents we need from you and what you have to do after you have been admitted. If you have any questions or need help, simply contact the relevant contact and advice centres.

Admission requirements

The following admission requirements must be met for a Master’s programme:

Professionally qualifying university degree (Bachelor’s degree) with at least 180 ECTS or a comparable degree in a subject closely related to the one offered.

Very good knowledge of the English language;

TOEFL iBT (90 points)
IELTS (6.5 points)

Attendance of an aptitude interview with 2 professors

* The Master’s degree in Environmental Management and Sustainability requires a corresponding certificate either in geography/physical geography or in geography-relevant natural science subject; The Culture and Media Studies degrees require corresponding expertise in cultural studies, sociology, political science, architecture, design and media and communication sciences as well as in (environmental) psychology.

Consultation

Let us advise you online, on the phone or in person without any obligations so you can gain an impression of the BSSF.

Early Registration

The following documents are needed for an early registration:

  • Letter of motivation (max 2 DIN A4 pages)
  • Curriculum vitae (tabular form)
  • Certified proof of the requested educational qualifications (copies of certificates)*
  • Proof of payment of the €150 administration fee

Admission to a degree programme

If your documents are positively assessed, we will invite you to an aptitude interview (if necessary via Skype or video conference).
In this interview your knowledge, skills, experiences as well as your motivation will be examined and determined. This is how we assess whether you fulfil the requirements and can manage the respective material. You will receive an admissions notification 4 weeks later at the latest.

Preparing for your studies

Once you receive a notification of your successful admission, you are an official student at the BSSF. Congratulations! There is still a lot to consider and manage until the start of the trimester. We would be happy to help you find accommodation, funding for your studies and much more.

* Foreign educational certificates must be presented in the original or as an officially certified copy. If certificates are not written in German or English, an officially certified translation in the original or as an officially certified copy must be enclosed.

Good to know

At the beginning of all programmes, the essential prior knowledge of the respective degree programme and of the interdisciplinary courses is taught in an obligatory preparatory course. This course also offers an introduction to the working methodology and tools of the university of applied sciences.
